How to use a new-carrier list

A brand-new USDOT number usually means a company that has just entered trucking: it typically has no operating authority yet (the MC docket is granted two to three weeks after the USDOT registration), no insurance on file, and no inspection history. That makes these carriers the best moment for factoring companies, insurers, ELD and compliance vendors, and fuel-card providers to reach them, and the riskiest to tender freight to until authority and insurance are in place. Open any carrier above to see its authority status and vetting snapshot as it develops.

Why "new USDOT" and "new MC" are different lists

The USDOT number is issued first, at registration. For-hire operating authority (the MC number) follows later, after the FMCSA processes the application and insurance is filed. This public page tracks new USDOT registrations; the New Applicants report also tracks dockets as they are granted, which is the signal most useful for brokers and load boards. See how to check if an MC number is active.
